Our Story

Meet Robbie!

Robbie is a 26-year-old software developer with a creative spirit and unstoppable determination. Living with Cerebral Palsy and using a wheelchair has never slowed him down. In fact, it inspired him to innovate.

While navigating daily life, Robbie noticed a simple need: a secure, versatile cup holder for his wheelchair. Instead of settling for what was available, he decided to create his own. Combining his software development skills with 3D printing technology, he designed a customized wheelchair cup holder that quickly gained attention from others in the community. After selling over 100 of them, Robbie realized he could help even more people by bringing new ideas to life.

He launched The Maker North of 49, a Canadian brand dedicated to creating practical, meaningful, and beautifully designed 3D-printed products inspired by everyday life and the places people love.

One of his signature creations is the Custom Lake Lamp. Each lamp is designed from the unique contours of a customer's favourite lake, transforming treasured memories of cottages, family vacations, and waterfront living into a one-of-a-kind illuminated keepsake. Every lamp is carefully crafted and made to order in Canada.

Robbie's love for Canada and the outdoors also inspired the Multi-Use Boat Planter and Catch-All, a versatile piece that can be used as a planter, storage basket, or decorative accent, adding a touch of cottage charm to any home, garden, or patio.

Robbie's story is about seeing possibilities where others see limitations. Every product from The Maker North of 49 reflects his belief that creativity, innovation, and perseverance can transform ideas into products that make life more beautiful, personal, and accessible.
