The Idea

At The Maker North of 49, we are constantly looking for new Canadian-inspired design ideas. Living in Ontario all my life taught me one thing: that every Ontarian has one thing in common: "The Cottage".

A Cottage isn't just simply a place that we go to on the weekends. It's a place where memories are made, shared and cherished forever!

And many cottages have one thing in common: being on a Lake. With Ontario having approximately 250,000 lakes, we knew we couldn't produce all of them. So why not involve the customer in the process and allow for some truly personalized designs?  

The Process 

1. It all starts with the customer providing their lake, geographic information about their lake, and the address of their cottage. 
2. The shoreline is traced using geographical data and carefully verified to ensure the true meaning of the lake is captured. Personalized text, such as the lake name, location, cottage name, etc. 
   
3. The lamp is 3D modelled. The 2D design is carefully transformed into a 3-dimensional design, ready to become a one-of-a-kind reminder of the place that is special to you and your family!
   
4. A rendering is provided to each customer to ensure the design captures the meaning of the place that matters most to them. 
5. 3D printing begins, right here in Ontario. Each lamp is printed one at a time, layer by layer, in the customer's chosen colour (Beige, White, or Yellow ).
   
6. The lamp is inspected and then paired with the customer's chosen lighting option (fairy lights or a puck light)
